L-R:
Adrenalin, Ice Crush, Razzmatazz, Sketch, Wilderness Duo, Parma Violet, Crystal Clouds, Cyclone, Awol, Green Room, Louder, Dead Ringer, Wilderness Duo, Hidden Treasure, Gypsy Night
Following on from my post about the Topshop Lipsticks, I thought i'd write about the nail polishes. I own a fair few, as you can see. I am a huge fan of these little beauties. I do remember when they first came on the scene, I wasn't massively impressed with the size or shape of the bottle, I just didn't think they looked very pretty and were quite small, but now I absolutely love them. They could be deemed slightly smaller than the average nail polish, but actually, I think they are just right. I own so many larger nail polishes (like O.P.I & China Glaze) and I never come anywhere close to using the whole bottle up before it goes thick & gloopy.

The quality is really good, I have yet to use any shade which hasn't delivered a nice opacity, or painted on appallingly. I also think there is a fantastic range of colours. Whenever I see the makeup stand in Topshop, and all the pretty colours lined up so beautifully, I always feel as though I need to own more of them, so I can stand them in my bedroom looking equally as pretty.

The standard range of basic colours are priced at £5 (your reds, blues, pinks, pastels & brights) & the more exciting/special polishes (The multi-tonal, glitter & crackle) are priced at £6. There are a few on the website at the moment which are part of the "Sisters of the New Moon" collection and they are priced at £6.50. I think the pricing is very fair. I'm quite happy to pay this nice mid-way price for a decent nail polish, compared with higher, more well-known brands at a much higher cost. I don't particularly look for a nail polish with the highest of quality, I'm definitely more of a "if I like the colour, i'm buying it regardless of the price" person. So if it's a gorgeous colour, i'll buy it if it's 50p or £10. I do know that some of you will be reading this who DO look for decent quality in a nail polish, possibly if your job involves you looking immaculate, and chipped nails are a nono? I can honestly say, I've NEVER come across a nail polish that doesn't chip on real nails. I'm an acrylics girl, so my nails aren't real most of the time, therefore polish is usually on there until I decide to change it. However, anytime I haven't had acrylics, and I've worn the Topshop nail polishes on my real nails, they've lasted just like any other polish. I'd say 5-6 days totally chip free (with a top coat). Even the more expensive polishes chip on me in this same amount of time (I don't think my natural nails take well to polish haha)

My current favourites are Green Room, Ice Crush, Hidden Treasure, and the metallic silver one from the Wilderness duo (annoyingly, they don't have separate names that I can see, and they aren't on the website anymore, but they do have a metallic silver which could very well be exactly the same)

Have you tried the Topshop nail polishes? Can you think of any colours that I'd love and don't already own? (not that I need anymore clearly)

London Purchases - Illamasqua & Nars

Before the Body Shop Event, we "popped" into Selfridges...
I only bought a few things, I was being a good girl :)

Of course i had to check out the Illamasqua counter, I really wanted to try one of their eyeshadows as i've heard great things about them & obviously i couldn't help purchasing another lipstick as i love the one i bought previously & wanted another for my collection. (This one was actually on my wishlist!)

The Lipstick is called "Liar" & It's a gorgeous pastel pink, very opaque but is one of a few with tiny shimmery particles in it rather than being matte.
Holly tried this one on & we both fell in love with it.
I cannot wait to wear this, I really love Illamasqua lipsticks, the lasting power is seriously good.
The other one i purchased (Obey) i wore in my latest FOTN, and i had to scrub it off my lips before bed..AND in the morning. I was thouroughly impressed.
Im not too sure if the shimmery ones will have the same effect but we shall soon see.

The eyeshadow is called Tango..and again, among all the hundreds of mattes they have, is a shimmer.
I love my shimmers clearly.
It's a gorgeous reddy brown, and i actually dont think i own anything like it. I have browns, but none with a red/orange undertone.
The pigmentation i would say is similar to Mac's, although i actually think that Illamasqua shadows last longer on the eye. :)

Next was the Nars counter.
I don't know if you've had a chance to look at the new collection but there are a few gems in there.
One being this shadow...

It's called Mekong, and it a deep brown, with tiny gold specks.
It looks a little purpley in the photos, i don't know why but it's not showing it in all it's beauty.
I was trying so hard to get it to show up the right colour...dang!
One thing i love about Nars shadows, is the pigmentation
They are by far the most pigmented shadows i have ever used.
one swipe and it's there in all it's glory.
They also last AGES.
I swiped this on my hand the other day (before urchasing) and even after i'd scrubbed at my hand, there was still a little mark there at the end of the day.
I havent used many of the lighter Nars shadow shades, so i cant say whether they are as pigmented as the darker ones, but from swatching at the counter many times before, i have never been dissapointed.

Look out for these products in some FOTD's in upcoming posts.
These are all far too pretty to let them go un-demonstrated.

Anything else in this Nars Collection you think is worth the buck?
I loved the look of the duo..but one shadow was very glittery (of the chunky nature).
& theres a palette i have my beady little eye on.

Grease Is The Word.

If you follow me on twitter or listened to me complaining about my hair at the Body Shop event (haha sorry), then you will know that i have had major issues with it being greasy as soon as i'd washed it.
This did happen on the morning of the Body Shop event, much to my dismay...

It just wouldn't stop being greasy.

I tried...
  • Changing Shampoo & Conditioner
  • Not using any Conditioner
  • Batisting it out...that didnt work. No amount of dry shampoo would lift it.
  • Not using any products before blowdrying
and yes, you guessed it...none of the above worked.

Here are some GLORIOUS photos of my lovely greasy head.
You may vom if needs be.
I know i dont like seeing people with greasy hair haha

These photos were taken literally 2 minutes after blowdrying.
Sorry if the photos were crap...its hard taking a photo of the top of your head.
The greasyness is in the crown and some in the fringe.

My hair has been SO limp, even backcombing didnt achieve any volume.

So ladies..the diagnosis is...
Product Build Up
*grrr*

My mum always used to tell me about product build up, and i'd be like
"yeh yeh, but thats what you shampoo you're hair for"
O_o

I seriously would have given up all hope and bought some expensive hair treatment or gone to the hairdressers if it hadn't have been for Arlene (Dressjunkie)
She advised me to get the Boots product build up shampoo & linked me to her REVIEW.
Please read it, its waaay better than mine :)
She had the same problem and voilaa, this little beauty of a product sorted it all out.

It was £2.93 in Boots & looks like this...

I dont often see many hair products that offer to remove build up product, and actually, when i was scouring the shelves for this..i saw nothing that claimed to do the same thing.

I have just done the test & washed my hair twice with the shampoo & nothing else.
No conditioner, no serums or lotions before or after blowdrying.
*gasp*

The results are far better than i expected.
I dont have any grease in my hair, it feels SO soft and sleek. It actually feels as though i've had my hair washed and blowdryed in a salon.

I seriously cannot thank Arlene enough.
and remember girls, don't ever underestimate the "own brands"
Hey guys this is my favouite watch and it zoella too i have this watch and it is the best

My favouite hair products

Funnily enough, when I styled my hair before filming, I used a product I hadn't ever used before which was a naughty Space NK purchase last week, and was so amazed at the results, I snapped a few shots as I knew I'd want to rave to you about it. I had heard a bit of buzz around the brand Oribe through various other beauty bloggers and vloggers, but hadn't followed up on it as I have enough hair styling products to last me a good while, and I'm genuinely happy with my current hair care routine. I also got the impression it wasn't the cheapest brand as it was being stocked in Space NK.

Whilst in Space NK buying birthday gifts, I spotted the range of Oribe hair products, and I think that they put extra strong human magnets in their packaging because I was drawn to them with no will of my own (ehem). I was very intrigued by the "Dry Texturising Spray - £38" - Anything with the word "texturising" when you have long hair is always promising, as it can easily be weighed down and can end up looking quite flat, and most of you know that my obsession with sea salt spray (for added texture) runs very deep. It's essentially a dry shampoo, with texturising properties. It feels weightless in my hair, and gave my roots SUCH a boost.

Yes, it has a price tag that could leave your purse feeling very light, but to be honest, it is so worth it. Obviously, if Batiste does it for you, then continue to use that at a much more budget friendly cost, but this is like no other dry shampoo I have ever used. It's invisible, so personally that already edges ahead of batiste as there is nothing I hate more than brushing white powder through my roots (or after a day of shopping getting home to realise you had a massive white patch left at the back of your head...premature greys anyone? Not if I can help it). Not only does it make your hair look voluminous, it also makes it so shiny, and holds like a hairspray almost. As you can see, I used it to style my fringe and the front of my hair, and it worked SO well, better than any hairspray I've used previously.

They say it has "patented polymers" to absorb oil, and plant extracts to hydrate and protect. They also say it leaves you with "full on glamorized hair that looks like it's just been styled, even when it hasn't", which I 100% agree with. It feels as though I just left the salon. I'd also like to mention that it smells incredible.

The only downside to this product, is that I NOW WANT EVERYTHING IN THE ORIBE RANGE!

Beauty | Autumn Colours

ColourPop Eye Shadows in So QuicheLace and Krinkle
Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Palette in 06 Currant Desire

One of my favourite things about Autumn is all of the beautiful seasonal colours and shades that start appearing in beauty products and new releases. I thought I'd share a few gorgeous shades I've spotted recently..

When the weather gets cooler I tend to move away from pastel nail shades and into deeper tones, and the new Autumn Collection from Barry M and the Hollywood collection from Leighton Denny are perfect for that. I absolutely love the deep blue LD shade 'No Pictures Please'.

I find myself wearing more shimmer in eyeshadows at this time of year too, these shades from ColourPop are so pretty and great for creating a more shimmery smokey eye. This palette from Estee Lauder is absolutely stunning too, the purple berry tones are stunning and the shades compliment each other beautifully.

What are you excited for around this time of the year?

About Me

My name is Georgine, I'm 12 years young & a writer & enthusiast of all things "Beauty, Fashion & Life" related.

Once Upon A Time, In February 2014, after indulging in various other Beauty Blogs as a way to read up on the latest goings on in the Beauty world, I decided to join in on one very boring evening, and Georgine was born.

I chose to write about the things I liked, the things I'd purchased & other opinions on products in general. Before long, I had a small following of people that enjoyed reading what I'd written, and this was amazing in itself, as really, I'd never expected anyone to enjoy anything I'd written in my own little space on the Internet.

Months & Years passed, and the following grew to the 5 digit mark & now I've expanded into the scary realm of YouTube & My Blog posts are slightly more varied, covering beauty, fashion, life stories and some other controversial & health subjects thrown in for good measure. I've had the privilege of attending various events, trialing samples and meeting some truly amazing people along the way.

Thank You to everyone who takes the time out to comment and show such an interest in the things I have to say, I will continue to write and post videos just as long as you want to read and watch them, and I hope I've managed to help at least a handful of you in any area that you may have needed it.
